Dear Pebble Devs,

We want to thank each and every one of you for your incredible contributions, feedback, feature requests, support, and—above all—friendship these past four years. Because of you, the Pebble smartwatch experience was phenomenal for over two million users in every corner of the globe. We’re closing a chapter today as Pebble shuts down hardware operations, but want you alongside us for a new adventure with Fitbit.

Pebble Developer Retreat 2015

Our Achievements

The journey hasn't always been easy, but together, we’ve shared amazing experiences, online and in-person. We're all incredibly honored to have played a small part in the ecosystem and community you formed around our pioneering wearable platform.

The Pebble Dev Community has delivered apps and experiences beyond our wildest dreams. You’ve published over 15,000 watchfaces and watchapps, 130 companion apps, created some awesome libraries and packages, and performed 4.6 million builds on CloudPebble! You truly did #MakeAwesomeHappen, and we love you for that!

Tintin and Snowy

Logistics

In the short term, the Pebble Developer experience remains unchanged. We’re happy to report that our transition to Fitbit gives Pebble Developers an exciting opportunity to reach and delight over 50 million users and counting. The Pebble SDK, CloudPebble, mobile apps, developer portal, appstore, timeline API, dictation service, messaging service, and firmware will all continue to operate without interruption. Further down the road, we’ll be working to phase out cloud services, providing the ability for the community to take over, where possible.

The Future

Wrists and Watches

Although this chapter in Pebble’s developer story is closing, our team and ethos have found a new, welcoming home at Fitbit. We can’t wait to have you alongside us for this next adventure. Third-party Pebble developers have a massive opportunity to drive how a Fitbit developer ecosystem will take shape. We hope you’re as excited about seizing this opportunity as we are.

Over the coming months we will be working closely with our new friends at Fitbit, building the foundation for the next great wearable experiences. We want you—our fantastic developer community—to keep playing a crucial role in our success. More information will follow soon, so stay tuned!

Share the Love

In the meantime, we'd love for you to join the conversation. Share your ideas, fond developer moments, and favorite photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit with #pebbleXfitbit.

Stay awesome!
